Who Should Join

Illinois Volunteers is looking for citizens, adults and youths who are not affiliated with volunteer organizations such as the Red Cross and Salvation Army, but who want to help during a disaster. No prior training or experience is necessary, as volunteers can assist according to their availability, skills, and willingness to perform specific tasks. By registering on the Illinois Volunteers database, the volunteers themselves will be able to set the parameters of their participation. Illinois Volunteers is also looking for those that wish to donate products or provide financial support to voluntary organizations to utilize the web-based donations management system. The State of Illinois, in cooperation with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Aidmatrix Foundation, is now providing this service through the Ready Illinois website.

Should citizens wish to be involved in ongoing training and educational opportunities related to disaster response, they are encouraged to contact any of the organizations listed below.
