Director Monken photo Greetings and welcome to the 16th Annual Illinois Emergency Management Conference. Your presence and participation this week demonstrates your continued commitment to the service of others and for that I extend my sincere gratitude. With a record conference registration of nearly 1,300 in 2011, Illinois continues to make strides as the premier state in the country for multi-disciplinary and multi-jurisdictional cooperation. The credit for this incredible accomplishment lies in your hands, as you are the ones who make the daily effort to work together, no matter the circumstances, to keep the people of your communities safe. The past twelve months have certainly been a busy and challenging time for everyone, from the tragic tornado in Harrisburg and Ridgway to the unprecedented NATO summit in Chicago. These events have tested our resolve but you have all demonstrated once again why you are worthy of the responsibilities that have been bestowed upon you. << read more >>

Jonathon E. Monken, Director

IMPORTANT NOTES:
  • We + 3 = Help For Disaster Victims" Following both large and small-scale disasters, many of those people directly impacted turn to their local food pantries and charities for help in providing food for their families. For those of us that have seen this first hand, we understand the pressure that these types of events put on local food pantries and charities that are already stretched pretty thin. At this year's Conference, we will try to help central Illinois be better prepared to offer this type of assistance following the next disaster, by offering you the opportunity to help. The "Me + 3 = Help For Disaster Victims" project will offer you the opportunity to bring 3 non-perishable food items to the Conference. These items will be sent to a local food bank to be distributed here in central Illinois. We invite you to participate in this project.
  • Remember that the on-line registration option will be available only thru Friday, August 24th, at 12:00pm. We invite those who still wish to attend to register at the Crowne Plaza upon arrival.
