Advanced Public Information Officer
This four day course is intended for individuals who are the information officers for their agency.and have some exerpience as a Public Information Officer. This course contains a series of lecture presentations and exercises that will help students become more comfortable as a PIO. Topic and or activities covered include: Legal issues in public information, risk communication, interperssonal skills for PIO, conflict resolution, media relations and stress management. There will be a Joint Information Center Exercise.

Prerequisite: It is reccomended that students complete FEMA's Basic Public Information Officers course (G290).
Target Audience/Discipline: The March 2011 course is being offered to Public Information Officers from both Illinois and Indiana as part of our efforts to prepare for the National Level Exercise 2011 (NLE11). Therefore we are targeting those who will be involved in NLE 11 and may act in the capacity of a Public Information Officer. In the event we are unable to fill the couse with those involved in NLE 11, we will open up the course to anyone who may be interested.
Scheduled Classes: There are no scheduled dates for this course.
Please note: Applications for courses will be accepted up to 1 day prior to the course date. However, the cutoff date for lodging is 7 days prior to class.
