Event Security for Public Safety (MGT 335)

This two day course is designed to enable participants to recognize and plan adequate strategies and security measures to prevent and mitigate security incidents which may occur during events. Participants will review and discuss the fundamentals of risk assessment. The course will highlight examples of events and venues that have high risk security considerations and the key components to addressing these security concerns. A review of the National Incident Management System (NIMS) and Incident Command System (ICS) and their relationship to security planning will be discussed.

Course Length: 16 hours

Course Timeline: Review the training calendar to identify the timeline for the specific class you will be attending. Unless otherwise stated, registration is always 30 minutes prior to the class start time.

Prerequisite: Special Events Contingency Planning for Public Safety IS 15.A, Introduction to the Incident Command System IS 100, ICS for Single Resources and Intial Action Incidents IS 200 and National Incident Management System IS 700 are highly reccomended.

Target Audience/Discipline: This course is designed for federal, state and local emergency management officials, public safety officials, individuals and agencies who will be responsible for coordinating public safety and security for any event.

Scheduled Classes: There are no scheduled dates for this course.


Please note: Applications for courses will be accepted up to 1 day prior to the course date. However, the cutoff date for lodging is 7 days prior to class.
